|

Guys,
I want to ask you for help.
As you know we have release the new version of BMW firmware so all our new BMW adapters will come fully equipped with text, "thump" control, and other features. Read more here:
http://car2pc.com/news.html
Please see below how we implemented it right now: | Code: | 1. When WinAmp is closing, it sends command to mute the sound
2. When WinAmp is up it send command to unmute the sound. This way when computer is starting you won't hear that "thump" anymore.
3. When song is playing WinAmp cycles the text from title/artist/album on a radio itself. Something like 5 secs apart/
4. WinAmp has ability to redirect text area to IKE or NAV |
We'd like to hear from you what do you think about the proposal above ?
Any special settings, default behavior you want in addition ? |

I think the proposal is a good one.
I would add the following enhancements as well:
1. Mimic CD changer functionality when the end of the playlist is reached.
Go to the next playlist when there are no more songs in the current
playlist. Track advance, reverse functions should also handle the logic
of navigating between playlists.
2. Track advance, reverse functions should be aware of the end of a play-
list. If the end of the playlist is reached, pressing the advance button
should not go to a non-existent track in the current playlist.
3. Support repeat functionality. BMW radios in E36 models did not have
a repeat button. Map the function to another button on C33, C43 and
CD43 radios.
4. Support shuffle functionality. across tracks within a playlist and within
multiple playlists.
5. If the plugin cannot be configured, disable Winamp's configure button. |

So to clarify things you ask:
- If no Repeat is set, go to the next playlist when current is over
- Ability to map different buttons to Repeat. Such as Scan for instance
Shuffle (Mix) is supported right now across the playlist only. This is the behavior of WinAmp and I'm not sure if it is possible easily make it work across many playlists. |

Also the text support will have the following options:
scroll: N- album - artist - track
scroll: N- track
cycle: N- album - artist - track
scroll: N- track
separate: track/artist/album
This way text either scroll or cycle on a display or placed on its own place (separate)
Any comments ? |

| How about integration with Winamp's media library? Allowing you to browse artists and albums? |

| Good suggestion. Once this version is released we'll look into it. |

Awesome. I am actually working on my own Winamp plug-in that will support this as we speak. (I've been planning this whole car/pc music project for a couple years now, so sorry if I'm impatient I'm glad I found Car2PC, though! Makes my job a whole lot easier!)
In any case, I'm confused with this HU library since the info on this forum and the comments in the code don't match up... Know where I can get the latest HU library and maybe some accurate info? Thanks!
Sorry if this is off-topic... it's sorta related... |

| Not a problem. I'll post the latest library source in CVS this weekend. |

The latest version is in CVS | Code: | cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@pymedia.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/pymedia login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@pymedia.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/pymedia co -P libusbhu |
Here is the latest version of WinAmp plugin (1.7.1)
http://car2pc.com/downloads/gen_hump3_1_7_1.exe
Change log:
- Better playlist handling. Playlist 6 no longer slips
- Better text handling. Allow either 1 text field or by artist, track name
- Firmware version checking. Allow easy access firmware version from the plugin in preferences screen.
- Mutes sound when leaving the plugin and unmute when playing to prevent sound "thump" |

Hi,
I just upgrade de rom and installed the winamp plugin 1.7.1
And all seems to work, the problem is that the text didn't scroll I only can see the first 12 letter of the artist name, or of the song name if I check the separate title checkbox.
is there a configuration to scroll the text?
thanks and regards |

It can be done via software no problem.
The reason we did not do that is that it generates a lot of traffic on a slow IBus which may prevent other devices to communicate properly. |

then, this you say before is not implemented?
may be it will be interesting to display cycles: one cycle displaying artist, another with album and another with track, and using the number os seconds of the refresh rate from the plugin config.

| It should do that now when you unselect Separate Title. It will scroll title -> album and back. Try that... |
