We have completed the new interface to a car pc from the Pioneer stereo.
Please let me know if you're interested in being a beta tester Wink
I will confirm the price for it tomorrow or earlier next week, but it should be around $40 ( after review is submitted ).
The first samples should be here in 2 weeks, but I will have limited number available at that point.
I will also update this post to show pics, text feature and some other cool things we do with Pioneer next week.
It will come in enclosure, all wires and connectors.
Let me know if you're interested Smile

Hi, I'll get some pics once boards arrive ( by end of Aug ). So far the only "cool" features implemented are:
- text
- sniffing ( passthrough )
We will be adding more features to the firmware as long as we get requests. Right now the priority is to have it out Wink

ive got a question, i probably should have asked it earlier before the boards were designed but anyways im guessing its too late...

could you add a few auxillery buttons on the board, just some jumper pins on the board would be fine, from there i could connect some buttons that i could place maybe on the dash of my car, so i can control a few extra things on the computer/winamp that couldnt be done through the headunit. im guessing your using from form of PIC chip for this? if so i am sure it would be easy to do as i do a bit of work with the pic chips myself, i am designing a control module which can control basically anything u want in the car, included in that ill be adding a few features to control the car pc which i believe no other business/person on the internet provides.

maybe its somethinbg to think about for your next revision of boards or new boards that u design

It can be done. The processor we use LPC2101 is having AD converter so you can use 1 wire and connect many resistors to it. So I think you can justsolder to that unused pin and have fun. I'll see what software changes are needed.

I am very interested in connecting my car PC/ MP3 and manage it through my Pioner 5700dvd or visa versa. Is this the kind of connection you are talking about?

as for the buttons i mentioned before, i have 6 buttons, all buttons run to 2 wires, one goes to ground, other goes to device. here is the resistance info:

no buttons pressed: 3.68k ohm resiatance
button 1 pressed: 0.16k
button 2: 0.08k
button 3: 0.28k
button 4: 0.46k
button 5: 0.79k
button 6: 1.48k

hopefully you can add that feature.

We are fighting with some instabilities. And power consumption in idle mode.
Thanks for the info, once the product is out I'll let you know how can you get those presses converted into commands.

Any new word on the Pioneer unit? Do you think it will be ready, say, in a month or so?
