Just connected a Transcend StoreJet 25M2 harddrive to the GROM USB adaptor.

Started playing immediately but...... every few seconds I get short hiccups.
I already flashed to the latest V46 firmware but no change.
This means this HDD is unusable for music playing... Crying or Very sad

I noticed a different behaviour when connecting the drive to my PC and the GROM device.
With my PC the blue light on the drive stays on but when connected to the
GROM it's constantly flashing with some hiccups (corresponding to the hiccups in playing).
Does the GROM have no buffer?
Any idea what could be done?

Thanks in advance.

My guess is GROM unit does not provide enough power (likely is not providing full USB power spec).

But, good luck getting any kind of help from GROM ... just look at the amount of posts from people with issues that have not been responded to in ages.

What HD you have inside that enclosure ?
Is it 1.8'' or regular 2.5'' ?

According to the Transcend-specs it's a 2.5".
Unfortunately they don't tell anything about needed current.. Sad

However, somewhere on the GROM-site I saw that the USB-device could deliver 500mA/5V. Wouldn't that be enough?

ADDITION: I managed to get the the housing opened.
Inside is a Samsung 2.5" SATA-drive rated @5V/850mA... Sad

Probably too much for the USB-adapter.

We have tested with drives up to 1A so it shouldn't be an issue.
It might be related to the specifics of the logic of HDD controller.
I've seen it on some 1.8'' drives. In any case try to use another drive and see if problem appears

Thanks for the info. I will stick to my USB-pendrive which is working fine with the (never released) V39 firmware.
