Hi,

Please need your's advice.
I have a 'small' problem with car2pc adapter.

I have BMW E53 (X5) 2003 with MKIII navigation computer ,standart radio module without DSP ,CD changer.

I connect all wires as in the instruction manual (the conections a correct I check it using BMW WiringDiagramSystem)

Of corse first I disconect a CD changer.

Next I turn on ignition and after change the radio to CD, massage CDC 1-01 displayed on original BMW monitor.

Then I install all drivers and plugins.
Start WinAmp create a playlist's and ' Razz ' it's play music Sad BUT only one second then stop and steering wheel buttons and also buttons on original radio do nothing I can start playing music only from PC one second long.

I make some tests with adapter and find :
If I start a "grom_console" I can with comand TRXXX switch the trac no.

And with PS1 and PS0 comand turn off cd emulation 'listening' a I-bus of my car

But in CD changer emulation mode I see only this :
*ST*
*ST*
*ST*
...
...
*ST*
...

Where are the problem in my car or in adapter ?

I'am very sorry for my english. Embarassed
Thank You

Which firmware version is installed on adapter ?
You can see it in WinAmp settings for HUMP3 plugin or launch grom_utility and type VR+<enter>

Log looks normal but adapter is not going into ON mode somehow. Let us check the similar car. Will run more tests next week.

Hi. Is this a generic fix or specific to phil333? I have a facelifted 530D e39 with a flat-pin business radio / autochanger in the boot and with a trunk-fitted car2pc V3 I get the same response - just a string of *ST* messages in grom_console.

Actually - scratch the above, or, more precisely, I have two problems. The first is the problem above. The second, after an uninstall/reinstall of software on my laptop, is a more sinister message - USB device not recognised. Even after going back to basics and unplugging everything and reconnecting as per the instructions, I get this USB Device Not Recognised message and because of that, no chance to install the driver. The HU plugin in Winamp also does not show the firmware. Not looking good. Crying or Very sad

Question then. Rather than in-and-out the car each time, how can I test the adapter indoors? Is a 12V supply to the Car2pc adapter sufficient to prove it is working to install the drivers?

I am having this exact same issue (along with one other) with my 2001 VW GTI. If you can send me the solution to this problem it would be appreciated.

First off, the car: 2001 VW GTI w/Trunk CD-Changer cable and Monsoon Head Unit

The Head unit seems to recognize the adapter, it allows me to change in to CD-Changer mode only when the adapter is connected. However no sound will come from my speakers, despite connecting multiple audio sources. Also when I connect the USB cable into my laptop, the adapter seems to be sending a stream of "STOP" commands every second or so, preventing winamp or WMP from playing the song.

I've seen instructions describing an extra black wire that is supposed to be grounded, however I do not have this extra black wire on my cable.
