|
|
In order to simplify development for Car2PC adapter I created simple emulator which "fools" libusbhu library thinking that "real" headunit adapter is connected.
This allow anyone even not having the real adapoter write programs and plugins.
Here are the screenshots:
The application is fully skinable and very light.
If you want to see how the emulator works, do these steps:
1. Install WinAmp plugin plugin for Car2PC adapter
2. Unpack anywhere you want Emulator
Run install_emu.reg in the Emulator directory.
Run Emulator. It will say "No Changer"
Now run WinAmp, Emulator will be connected to it.
Load Winamp with the music and now you can control your Winamp the same way as you would do using your regular car stereo !
Whenever you attach Car2PC adapter, the Winamp plugin will switch over to it immediately.
The next version will be displaying text and stuff the way some headunits can (like BMW)
Have fun !

I tried to run this, but I get
DDE Server Window: winamp.exe - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because FTD2XX.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
when I launch Winamp.
Also, the emulator had install_emu.reg, but not install_emu.bat ... so I ran the reg file instead. Is this correct?
I should mention that I don't have a Car2PC adapter. I noticed the DLL is in the driver package, but how do I install the driver when I don't have the adapter? |

| Ah, much better now. It kind of works, but the only buttons that work are the mix and arrow buttons. The mix button is reliable, but the arrow buttons are flaky. None of the other buttons do anything. I can't start/stop play... only change tracks. Is this what it's supposed to do? I hope the real device can do more functions in Winamp? |

Well,
Many stock stereos do not have pause or stop functionality. When you switch it off or switch to FM it will stop and then start playing from the same position.
If stock stereo supports stop.pause etc, it will be supported by plugin.
If you want 1-6 buttons to work, go to plugin options and set the playlists you want for those buttons.
Next/Prev works flacky since if you press it little longer it will rewind. So it has to be very short presses. |

Hi, I've just ordered a CAR2PC adapter for my SEAT Leon (2001). Downloaded the plugin and emulator to try it out early. I get the same error as this user though (FTD2XX.dll was not found). I've tried the latest plugin (1.5) and this hasn't helped.
Is there a manual fix? |

There is a manual fix.
Right now installation puts file FTD2XX.dll under c:\winnt\System32\
If you have different instalation dir, you may need copy it manually to a location where it can be found. |

Great piece of soft! Since I don't know my radio code, I cannot use it outside of the car, and development is hard to be performed. With this it's just easy. One problem though, it works under windows. Any chance this can work under linux? any sources available?

| Basically it is skin for PyCar. It is written in Python and works on every platform that support Python and pygame. |
