So after having the car2pc adapter sitting on a shelf for quite some time (1yr or more?), I finally picked up the VAG adapter that frees up the CD changer pins on the back of the HU. It's installed, and when I press "CD" on the HU it now displays "CDC 1 Load" for a few seconds then switches back to the previous source, where it did not before, so I'm assuming the adapter is physically installed correctly and the HU is awaiting some sort of instruction from the adapter.

I'm testing on my laptop currently (actually in the car right now with it plugged in), and I'm not getting any serial devices when I plug in the adapter, and my logs are getting spammed with:

When I run the hutest utility after compiling libusbhu it returns:
Quote:

root@jama:~/libusbhu# ./hutest
-1 devices found
no FTDI devices found
root@jama:~/libusbhu#

I've loaded the ftdi serial module with no change in behavior. Any ideas?

So I made a bit of progress. The wme errors are wireless related and not relevant, and you can force ftdi_sio to acknowledge the car2pc device by:
Quote:

echo "0403 abcf" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id

However, after doing that, all I'm getting out of the serial device is a repeated string:
Quote:

ST ST ST

It also does not respond to any input to the serial device when using the commands listed in the first post here:
http://www.indashpc.org/vbullettin/viewtopic.php?t=103

And, the hutest utility still fails to recognize the car2pc device. I know this project is pretty well dead, but surely someone has seen this before?

From what I've read, the string that is getting repeated is a command:

ST = 0xFF 02 ST
But I am not finding any documentation on this command, and it's not mentioned in the API.

This is just STop command. Once you switch to CDC mode it will change to PL.

It does switch to PL for a brief moment, but then goes back to repeating the ST command. Is the HU waiting for an acknowledge?

Why would the hutest utility keep failing?
