I just finished installing my Grom Audio IPod to Mazda02+ hook up.

I'm able to make the EX appears, play some music but after 30 seconds or so, it all stops. Each and every time it's the same thing Confused

Also, none of my steering wheel buttons affect my pod behavior.

What's wrong??

@ WackyVee,
You seem to have the same problem I have. I was originally sent the adapter, which did exactly what yours does, and then was sent another adapter with updated firmware, which I installed yesterday only to encounter the same problem. I have a 2005 Mazda3, CD, 6 speakers, steering wheel mounted controls. I wrote to info AT gromaudio DOT com yesterday relaying this information, and have yet to receive a reply.

I wrote to Grom too, I'm just so anxious to make this thing works because it really seems like a great product, maybe just a bit in progress of being stable though...

@jr1m90

It seems you have the same journey as me with this product; I also did receive a 2nd chip...same old problem...think I'm gonna bail out of this Grom IPod thing and go for a more mature and experienced solution.

Could you send an update on your case though...

thanks

We found that some stereos need small change in PCB. If you comfortable doing it I will post what change can be done just to test to see if that's the problem. Any takers ? Wink

No, we made a small mistake when building PCB, please send the unit back so we can make it work.
It works here in the lab...

@ WackyVee
I did get a second board, which I sent back via RMA, and just received a completely new version yesterday, which was sent on Friday. I installed it, and it had the same problem. So I am currently sending the unit back via RMA for a refund, which is unfortunate because the GROM adapter was everything I wanted, and for the best price. I've been looking at a product by Revolution Performance Motorsports. It is functionally identical to the GROM (but adds an additional 3.5 mm jack) and lists at $124.95, but the coupon code M3FMP3 saves you 15 bucks. I wrote to them, and they say it will work with my car, so I think I'll order it.

As for why the Grom doesn't work with my car, I was thinking of a few ideas. First, the VIN of my car indicates that it was made in Japan, and because this car does have different head unit manufacturers (I think at least), maybe my HU is incompatible. Also, my firmware version is 9.82.39 (Don't know if that's useful or not...). Anyway, thanks for the help, and I'll let you know if I encounter success with another unit.

Also, in posting this, I was researching some other stuff, and apparently the website didn't like that, because this was the message I got when I posted it:
Mistake! There was an attempt of an automatic insert of the message in a forum. Your message is sent to hell. Try still times who knows - can it will turn out? Still probably, that you too long wrote the message - then pass to page back, copy the text, update page, insert the copied text and press button "Send".

Hello:

I recently purchased a Ipod Interface for 2004 Mazda 3S (6 speaker, non-bose). I am not able to get it to work with my factory radio. EX appears for a few seconds (approx 45 - 50) and then the radio shuts down.

HELP!!! Any suggestions?

tss
