Hi
ODR stands for Optical Digital Reference System. The "Best" was Pioneer builds for Cars
Here a Link: http://www.pioneer.co.jp/carrozzeria_x/index.html
It uses also the IP-Bus, but has a speciality with CD-Changers. You can adapt 4 changers with a special ID, so it would be nice to know if you can use it at the same time with your adapter which ist not with an ID.
The smaller one is or was the Pioneer P9 and now the Pioneer P90
All this units uses Optical Connection from the Headunit to the DSP's, also the special Changers M1 (With this ID) from the old ODR-System and the new one which is only available in Japan (without the ID).
Of course it is also possible to send an analog signal through the IP-Bus. That's why I asked some time ago, if you can adapt your USB to the optical/digital signal. Would be very cool..

Pretty cool system.
Sure we can send beta unit to you.
Please send email to beta@car2pc.com for instructions.
As of digital signal then if your PC has optical/coaxial you may better use that. |

Hi there,
Did you get the mail?
Optical:
It is a pitty with the pioneer-Protocol, there is a possibility to "say" to the unit that it has to take an optical signal, but I have no idea how to do that.
I've tried to adapt with a modified optical cable, but It did not work. I tried whilst playing with the optical CD-Changer and switched the optical cable on the fly to the digital out from a home CD-Player, but it did not work. So i gues it must send a special signal to start the "conversation".
Unfortunately I did not find anything on the I-Net for it
If you have any Ideas, please let me know.
Cheers Urs |

I've started to test the unit.
At the moment I can't save the entries for the playlists, is this usual? So if I choose a Playlist, save and close the plug-In and open it again, the paths are lost.
Also I tried to connect it together with the usual CD-Changer. Unfortunately it did not work
I will check it once again when I disconnect the CD-Changer.
I had also an Idea, could you make it possible to Choose the Disc-Number for the Playlist by myself? From the protocool it should be possible to connect 99 CD's (Playlists). So it would be maybee possible to connect it together with my other CD-Changers which can use Nr. 1 to 48 (12 for each).

Great it works now.
Connecting with regular CD changer will not work as I'm using sub id 0. If it will work with your stereo without CD changer then I'll compile a special version for you with sub id <> 0.
Let me know. |

Ok, I have a couple issues that aren't a huge deal, but just thought you should know:
I have a DEH-P4800MP which has the ability to select discs 1-12. This works fine except the following disc buttons yield the following commands:
10: DS00:
11: DS00;
12: DS00<
When, obviously, they should be DS010, etc. I'm writing my own software, so not a big deal.
The other thing is that sometimes when sending text to the head unit the text will show up correctly except it adds "AH" to the end. For example, if I send "Autechre" as the artist, it may show up as "AUTECHREAH" but not always. Has anyone else had his problem? |

Hi there...
I've done some test with the unit and my Pioneer ODR...
Unfortunately it is quite a bit bugy, some experiences:
- Changing titles with Headunit did not work at all Discs neither
- Must be very careful, what to start first, computer, connection USB, Winamp, Headunit... I did not get a way which works always.
- I can see the Disc-Number & Track-Nr, but sometimes it does not update the track-number when I change the Tracks in winamp directly. Usually is the prob with the first or the last track.
- First I could set everything in winamp and the music played well on my headunit. For a strange reason from one to the other hand it plays a second and then, stops the track. If I change the track, the same.
I'm sure it's just a little software-problem, because it works nearly. That's very fine
These Tests I've did with disconnected Changer. I can also Change the ID of my CD-Changer's (1 to 4 or sth like that) maybee in future it will work when I set the first changer on 2, I will try it out!)
If I can do something to help that the software works perfect, let me know. Because it's a very cool utility.
Cheers

Does your stereo support tracks > 99 ?
I don't think it does
As of track title, it will be done in TCPMP version. Which is due next week... |

My unit is recognised as a changer by the head unit, and I get audio through at a reasonable volume....until I attempt to access the car2pc serial port - at which point the headunit resets and the cd-changer is no longer recognised.
Any ideas? |
