I have installed:

Python 2.4 pygame-1.7.1release
Python 2.4 pymedia-1.3.7.2
Python 2.4.3

If I run 'python vplayer.py test.mpeg'

[windows media player can play test.mpeg OK]

I get a black video output window, no audio, no video, window stays up

If I run 'python player.py test.mpeg', no audio, no video, window is up only very briefly

No messages

If I run vplayer.exe or player.exe I get the message:

'LoadLibrary(pythondll) failed'

pymedia looks very cool, any help you can offer in much appreciated.

I tried .avi and .mpg files. The problems are the same: muxer.Demuxer.parse() returns nothing.

Does anyone successfully played a video on WinXp and would like to share the code and the video file?

thanks,

I think I may know what's the probem. Somehow when I run this:
Code:
set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=winbib
The Overlay.display() calls fails hard which crashes the player.
Try running
Code:
set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directx
in console before running the player to force directx overlay to be used instead. I'll try to isolate the issue in the SDL code.

SDL seems to have problems displaying overlays if DirectX is not used. Try to install latest DirectX and try player again.

thanks for your help.

but where to add this statement. I added in the python(command line), It said"Sytax error in <stdin> line 1". If added in vpalyer.py, It is "Invalid syntax". Where should "set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directx" be put?

Go to the command line and then type set SDL_VIDEODRIVER...
And then player.py <your file>
