Hi guys,
I just installed the adapter according to instruction and it seems to work fine with the ibus. Just 1 problem... no sound is coming from the car speakers. I tried to turn the black audio connector of the car2pc adapter upside down but no luck
I tried to reboot the laptop & restart the car in all possible combinations but still no sound. When disconnecting the adapter stereo plug the laptop speakers play fine. The steering wheel controls & MID controls work fine with winamp.
Also disconnected the CD Changer but no success The CD Changer is not connected with the 10 plug connector as shown here
but directly through some other means.
The rear of the HU is exactly as this one:
Also tried to remove the square metal connector next to the antenna but still no joy
The CD Changer itself is connected using 2 small plugs (it's kinda dark to see at the moment) but 1 of the connectors is a flat 2 or 3 pin type. (BTW it was removed while testing)
Anyone have a clue?
Thanks
WaterLift

If your PC has S/PDIF output you should try that.
I would say if your changer is DSP the analog audio may not work.
Let me check that. Will reply asap.

Nope well my actual carpc has spdif but I'm testing with my laptop before installing the carpc. The problem with connecting an spdif directly to my pc would also be the sample rate of 44.1 vs 48
here's a quote from another board (roadfly)
| Quote: |
There are 3 connectors on the BMW CD changer:
3-pin (carries 12V and I-Bus)
6-pin (carries analog audio)
coaxial (carries SPDIF digital)
on cars without DSP, the SPDIF isn't used and the 6-pin carries analog audio to the head unit.
on cars *with* DSP, the 6-pin isn't used and the coaxial cable carries a digital bitstream directly to the DSP amp. it never goes up to the head unit. the 6-pin cable isn't needed (though actually present, at least on '97 models). |

| I would say S/PDIF may work. Resampling is not a problem and most drivers support that. I will run some tests though.

Hard to say about the cable. If your stereo can disable the DSP in favor to analog, try that first.
If not, just go to the BMW forums and ask there. I'll be working on it as well.

I got me an SMB connector and a RCA male cable along with some 50 Ohm coax cable RG174 I believe and I will try it with that.
Will return with more info.
(see bmwtips.com => XM radio for the connector info)

You have to emulate CD changer on PC.
Here is the script in python for example.
