There will be firmware release shortly to switch to AUX via MODE button.

This is fantastic news! I was about to start modifying my GROM device myself.

Any idea on ETA for the new firmware?

No, not yet. I guess we can have dedicated Disk which will enable AUX. Say CD1 is for AUX CD 2..xx are for folders.

yeah, I'm actually using it to plug in a bluetooth module for mobile phone. I use it to play music off my phone and take handsfree calls. So remote control of that line's audio is not a problem.

Try to use AUX and insert/remove USB stick to see if it make a difference.

Ok, I have confirmed it with a spectrum analyser. Significant rolloff after 1.5kHz. There is also a bit of a null around 600Hz, though I can't be certain that's not due to my car's sound system.
